Monday Morning Update

Just a quick note that today is Mike Haubrich’s birthday. Mike’s Monday post will be up tomorrow rather than today not because he is taking the day off (he’s not) but because he wants to include an event going on tonight.

Speaking of events….

This is the Town Hall and meeting season for our elected representatives. Apparently, Michele Bachmann, one of our Minnesota Congresspersons (you may have heard of her), is being represented by the GOP as Mrs. Heath Care Town Hall Meeting, in stark contrast to Senators Franken and Klobuchar, who, they claim, do not have such meetings at all. This is absurd at so many levels it is hard to know where to start. First, they are comparing apples (senators) and oranges (house reps). There is a huge difference between reps and senators as to how they interface with the public (and how the funding for this works). Second, they are lying about Bachmann having actual town hall meetings. See the details here. If you want the real dope on Bachmann, have a look at this from a less-biased source (the Democratic Party!).

If you go to the Minnesota State Fair, consider stopping by at the political booths and let people know how you feel about the issues. The DFL booth schedule is here. There are some other parties, but I can’t think of what they are right now.

And for those of you who are not reading this from the North Star State, I just want to note that we’ve had frosts in the region and are expecting more. Current early AM temperature: 45 degrees F.
